Samoyed Breed Overview 

The Samoyed is white, fluffy, Spitz dog that was bred in order to pull sleds and herd cattle. They are very affectionate and friendly dogs that enjoy human company.

Samoyeds have a fluffy and distinctive double coat. Their top coat has coarse, long and straight white hair that protects the undercoat that is made of short and soft fur that keeps them from. You have to know that they shed heavily two times a year; however, on another occasion they don’t shed at all.

Samoyeds have brown eyes and blue eyes. Their ears are fluffy and triangular. Like other Spitz dogs, they have a fluffy and thick tail that is curled over back. When they feel comfortable, their tail falls, but when they are alert it will return to curl.

Samoyeds can reach up to 60 cm in height and 30 kg in weight.
Their life expectancy is approximately 14 years

Origins of Samoyed

The Samoyed is considered as one of the oldest breeds in the world, with a history of over 3000 years. They are named after people from Siberia. They are originally bred in order to herd reindeer and hunt. According to facts, Samoyedic people allowed them to join in all family activities in order to keep them warm. Because of the early treatment, they became very loyal and trusting dogs.

Samoyeds are not aggressive dogs. They are widely known for playfulness and friendly disposition.
