What is included in Petcare’s costs? For home pet sitting assignments the cost of mailbox clearance, rotation of lights/radio/tv, removing litter from the front of properties, starting a car engine, checking on any vehicles left on property/street, following up on newspaper cancellations, watering of plants inside/outside, feeding of pets, cleaning up after pets, changing litter trays, replenishing water, administration of medication, brushing of pets, exercising pets, pat and chat time, internal and external security checks of doors and windows, putting out/in rubbish bins and recycling containers, removal of all pet waste and food scraps from properties, communication by email/phone for updates whilst you are away. What is not included in Petcare’s costs? Pet food is an individual item and not included along with cat litter and any other items used at home to ensure the comfort of pets. We can assist you by purchasing any additional items whilst you are away and adding the cost to your account balance. A small key return fee applies where we cannot leave keys securely inside a property or hand them to a designated contact. We do not leave keys in letterboxes.
Is there a minimum booking period? For first time clients we require a minimum of three visits. After this there is no minimum. Where future visits are requested a small key pick up fee applies where less than three visits are required. Keys can also be dropped at our location in Alexandria.
Can Petcare give medication to my pet? Yes. Medication, flea control products even cleaning of your pet’s ears and eyes are covered in our costs.
What are the tax saving advantages of using Petcare? Many of our business clients are able to claim back the GST component of fees and claim the net of costs as an expense for security visits too. Our Security Licence covers this matter.
Are my keys safe and when do I give them to Petcare? Your keys are in our custody at all times and bear no identification as to your address. We have a code system. Keys are either left inside your home on the last visit or returned at a specified time after you arrive home. We prefer to collect keys at interview time but understand this may not always be convenient.
What information does Petcare require? At interview time we go through a comprehensive questionnaire. We cover contact details, pet requirements, security issues and additional tasks to be undertaken.
What happens if I have to cancel? Simply call us to cancel. If we have conducted an interview with you and hold a deposit a cancellation fee applies. We refund the balance to you promptly. If you intend to reschedule no cancellation fee applies for one change of plans.
What about confidentiality and legal issues? We have a contract which covers insurance, security, veterinary and access matters relating to your needs. This is signed at interview time. We do not disclose the nature of our work to anyone. We do not wear uniforms and make a point of parking in locations away from your home on each visit.
When and how do I pay and what happens if I cancel? At interview time we collect a deposit of 50% of total cost where the account is in excess of $200. Balance payable within seven days of the last time we visit. For work less than $200 payment in full is required at interview. We accept cash, cheque, Visa, MasterCard, money order and direct bank credit. A small cancellation fee applies only after a deposit has been made.

When does Petcare visit my home and pet/s? We work out a schedule with you. Pets are visited daily at a predetermined time so they become aware of the regularity of our visits.
What happens if my pet/s become ill whilst I am away? We will make every attempt to contact you immediately. If you cannot be contacted we will take your pet to the Veterinarian advised on our contract with you. In the event your Veterinarian is closed we will use other services which are available twenty four hours. Costs associated with any veterinary consultations will be charged to the credit card designated on the Petcare/client contract.
What about my landlord as I am not supposed to have a pet? A large number of our clients are in this situation. We remain a confidential discreet service at all times and do not discuss your private arrangements with our business ever. In the rare event we were to be challenged entering a property we are simply “ a friend” calling to check on certain matters whilst you are away. We do not wear uniforms or carry visible items so as to attract attention to our work.
